I've done a lot of work on the game this week!
Here's the new TNW component breakdown.
- 24 planet cards
- 24 sector cards
- 24 technology cards
- 4 10 card player decks (red, green, yellow, blue)
- 16 ship tokens (4 each red, green, yellow, blue)
- 100 resource cubes
- 1 red d8
- 1 green d8
- 1 rule book
That's a lot of changes! No more hex tiles. No more black hole, no more wormhole, no more colony domes, fewer ships, the d6 has been replaced with a second d8, the First Contact deck was renamed and revised, and resource tokens were added.
I got the new card prototypes finished tonight and the bits I ordered should arrive sometime early next week. I'd like to get in some more play testing earlier than that since I could substitute coins for ships and track resources on paper, but I've got a busy weekend full of family activities ahead, so it likely won't happen.
Finally, though, something exciting! I know it's still super early to be thinking about artwork and I definitely want to focus on finalizing game mechanics first, but I couldn't help myself. I decided to design a few cards. They may or may not ever be used and I did this more to encourage myself than I did to create a final design asset, but here's a sneak peek at what I'm thinking about in terms of card art.
